A: Yes. An application must be filed with the competent authority for registration and the acquisition of an operating license either before or after the establishment of the company. In addition, the business may only be operated on an exclusive (single-purpose) basis.

A: No. The business must be registered and operated in the form of company limited by shares

Q: Is there a minimum capital requirement?
A: The minimum paid in capital for an electronic payment institution is TWD 500,000,000.

Q: Which competent authority must registration be filed with?
A: In addition to completing business registration with the municipal or county government, an application for concessionary registration must be submitted to the Financial Regulatory Commission either before or after the establishment of the company.

Q: Is there a specified timeframe for obtaining the operating license?
A: A dedicated electronic payment institution shall, within six months from the date of obtaining approval, submit the required documents to the competent authority to apply for the issuance of an operating license.
