Q: Which foreign professionals are eligible under the Employment Insurance Act?
A: Foreign professionals, foreign specified professionals and foreign senior professionals who have obtained an Alien Permanent Resident Certificate (APRC) are eligible to participate in the Employment Insurance program.

Q: When should a foreign professional enroll in employment insurance after obtaining permanent residency?
A: The employer shall enroll the employee in the Employment Insurance program on the date the employee obtains an Alien Permanent Resident Certificate (APRC).

Q: What are the consequences if an employer fails to enroll an employee in the Employment Insurance program that are required?
A: The employer may be subject to penalties, and the employee’s Employment Insurance coverage will take effect on the day following the date of the actual enrollment.

Q: What Employment Insurance benefits are available after enrollment?
A: Eligible insured persons may apply for Employment Insurance benefits, including unemployment benefits and the parental leave allowance, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements.

Q: Can a person continue to receive Employment Insurance benefits if their permanent residency is revoked or annulled
A: In principle, no. However, this restriction does not apply to individuals who lose their permanent resident status because they have acquired or regained Taiwan (Republic of China) citizenship.
