Q: Which types of businesses are required to undergo investment review?
A: Foreign or overseas Chinese investors who intend to establish a company in the Republic of China must first apply to the Department of Investment Review of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The company may proceed with business registration only after the investment has been approved and the investment amount verified.

Q: When must the foreign investment verification be completed?
A: In general, the verification of foreign investment must be completed within one year from the date of issuance of the approval letter granting foreign investment qualification.

Q: Can company registration with the city government be completed solely by submitting a certified accountant’s audit report?
A: No. Foreign-invested enterprises or individuals must first obtain the approval letter from the Department of Investment Review of the Ministry of Economic Affairs before applying for company registration.

Q: How long must company registration be submitted after obtaining the approval letter?
A: Applicants must submit the company registration application within 15 days from the date of receiving the approval letter from the Department of Investment Review of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Q: Is it permissible to remit the capital before obtaining the foreign investment approval letter?
A: No. Foreign-invested enterprises or individuals are not allowed to remit capital on their own before the competent authority approves the investment application.
